Component 2b is another that is based in the environment of the classroom. This element focuses on the teacher creating an atmosphere of learning for the students, in which all are capable to succeed with the material. Making a culture for learning pushes students to strive for greatness, it teaches them about hard work and why it can pay off when there are high expectations. In a place of culture of learning, the teacher is able to have the students understand the importance of content and why they are learning it. Then expectations for their growth in knowledge and achievement should show that students are capable of reaching their goals. This understanding of their goals can further support them to get there and eventually gain a pride in their hard work.
I can implement this component in my classroom by first building that atmosphere through showing my own interest and love for teaching the materials. Then I can work with my students to recognize their strengths and display how these can help them succeed in their efforts. The last piece is making sure expectations for each student is voiced, therefore they know where their goals are at.
