Component 3d is the concept of tieing forms of assessment into the instructional process instead of it being at the end of a unit. It is the thought of monitoring the understandings of students in order to know where they are at in mastery of the materials. It is looking at writings, asked questions, or answers, in order to understand where the students are at. Questions are often used as a way to find the extent of knowledge each student has on the subject. This component is important because it begins to outline the way to fully incorporate assessment into the learning, instead of having such a sharp contrast.
Assessment criteria follows how students should know and understand was is expected of them for any type of assessment. No tricks. Monitoring of student learning is where a teacher has eyes on the students and their mastery of the materials, but the teacher can clearly see the evidence for it. This monitoring is within the lesson. Feedback to students is about a teacher providing guidance and information on how a student is doing with the instructional information. This prevents students from continually answering questions incorrectly and it keeps them pointed in the right direction. Student self-assessment and monitoring of progress is where students take ownership of their learning and understand where they are currently at. I can implement this in my classroom by making a clear form of communication between me and my students. This could be through forms, conversations, or activities. Through whatever line, I will be able to monitor progress and keep the students updated.
