Pinterest Pinterest is such a fun tool that is absolutely loaded with ideas for educators and non-educators. There is a little bit of everything for everyone. I use Pinterest as a way to stockpile new ideas I really want to test out, or future references I can use down the road. I would compare Pinterest to a large library; there is a lot of information, you just have to search for the good stuff. The basics of Pinterest is searching for the topic you're interested in, finding pins that fit it well, and pinning them onto your boards! It is easy and typically makes things easy to find again if organized correctly. In more detail, I made four boards on my Pinterest page:
Content Ideas, for future thoughts to spark my lessons
Ed Tech Tools, a flood of tech ideas and applications I can implement in the future
Professional Development, for my own future references to expand my own learning
Student Resources, an accumulation of various helpful tools and references I could compile and put out for my students to one day use.
Board & Pins Boards are easily ways to organize the mess that can be an overflow of pins. In any kind of Pinterest you have, it should be organized by topics, categories, or subject matter. This will make it immediately easier to find a certain pin when you're really looking for it, plus it is way more satisfying to see an organized Pinterest page. The great thing about recent Pinterest updates are the sub-boards you can create. It is pretty much a board within a board that you can also label and separate pins into. For example in Student Resources I could have sub-boards called "Writing Resources" and "Research Resources," this allows even greater ease and organization for finding certain pins to use in the classroom. Most of my pins are infographics or links to more information on a certain matter. I love the infographics in the Student Resource board that provide a lot of helpful tips with writing and word choice. I hope to really dive in and integrate these into my future classroom. Overall, Pinterest is a tool filled with a lot of resources for teachers. The uses of it are as boundless as the options you can type into the search bar.
