Component 4f is mainly about demonstrating professionalism to students and other teachers. It is a matter of placing students before your own needs no matter what. It involves having and following your strong moral compass in life. Along with your interactions having integrity and honesty. This piece is really about being a teacher who knows and advocates for their students. At a more logistical standpoint, decisions should be made with the students in mind. Lastly a teacher should follow school and district policies, but will also improve on outdated or ineffective ones. This component is important because these are the professional aspects a teacher should keep in mind and follow. Their actions as a teacher reflect upon them as a professional and an educator. Integrity & Ethical Conduct is formed around the actions of a teacher and how they should truly be reflections of honesty and integrity. Service to Students is the method of a teacher always placing the students first no matter the situation. Advocacy shows that in the classroom there should always be support for the best interests of the students, even if this contradicts with practice or beliefs. With Decision Making, the needs of the students should always be first. Compliance with School and District is how teachers follow the rules, policies, and procedures put in place by the school and district. In the classroom, I can implement this by making sure the basic needs of my students are met before the learning really begins. This component really shifts more into outside the classroom through professionalism.
