Component 4c is about building that respect and rapport with the families of your students. It should be a way of reaching out and coordinating with parents for meetings or other events in the best way so they can attend. Regular communication should happen often and when needed so the parents can be involved in the student's learning and their life at school. This component is important because without communication with parents, there is no relationship established. This can make any action with a student difficult when it comes to struggle grades or even the talk of special education if needed.
Information about the instructional program is essentially providing information frequently to families, when needed, about the lessons they are learning. Information about individual students is giving information to families about a student's progress in the class and school. Engagement of families in the instructional program is giving opportunities to families for participation in activities for the student's learning. I can use this in the classroom through sending frequent grade reports home with students or via email to keep parents updated. Along with setting up meetings when needed to talk about a student's progress.
