Domain 2 is all about a positive and supportive classroom community. This involves caring for the students so they end up looking out for one another and helping each other. It also includes supporting the learning process of students and making an appreciation for it. The last pieces of it involve keeping the classroom together with both student behaviors and the organized space. This domain is important because it sets up classroom expectations and creates the classroom flow in order for everything to run slowly.
Creating an environment of respect and rapport is the job of both the teacher and the student. Through caring about the students and being invested, this shows the student how to do this also to their peers. Thus creating a community of support and encouragement.
In a place of culture of learning, the teacher is able to have the students understand the importance of content and why they are learning it. Then expectations for their growth in knowledge and achievement should show that students are capable of reaching their goals.
It is based deeply upon effective use of time to maximize and keep the learning flowing. This component is important due to how correct use of it will create a good routine that will keep the students engaged within their learning.
It is centered on the teacher being able to handle and manage the classroom without undermining the students and their feelings. If student behavior is corrected, then later the student can engage and feel respected more than they did before.
An important thought regarding organization is tied to the success of the lesson. If a teacher is running around the classroom trying to find supplies, it takes away from what the students are learning. That is why it is important to have well put together room for not just the students to easily find materials, but also the teacher.
