Component 2e centers around making a classroom environment that is put together for ease of use, but is also safe. An important thought regarding organization is tied to the success of the lesson. If a teacher is running around the classroom trying to find supplies, it takes away from what the students are learning. That is why it is important to have well put together room for not just the students to easily find materials, but also the teacher.
The element of safety and accessibility deals with understanding basic needs of the students as covered in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Every student wants to feel safe and secure at school, so it is partly the teacher's job in their classroom to ensure this fact. The element of arrangement of furniture and use of physical resources is based in the name of it. It involves laying out the room so distractions are in the back or negated completely. This way the student remain involved and can properly see anything they need.
I can implement this component through making sure I create a positive and well thought-out environment for my students. Prior to the school even starting, I can work to ensure distractors are behind the students in order to keep their attention up front. Furthermore, with proper labels and organization techniques, I can make the classroom a place where students can find what they need in order to succeed with their work.
