Component 4b is around keeping records of records that are both instructional and non instructional. This ranges from completed assignments, grades, student progress, permission slips, and many other items. Anything that may help a teacher make decisions or look back should be properly recorded and taken care of. This component is important because filing information and keeping track of records is so important! Whether it is tracking a student's behavior to inform parents or just having records of student growth, a teacher should stay organized in these things.
Student completion of assignments deals with a teacher recording assignment completion but also looking over the work to see how the student actually did. Student progress in learning is knowing where a student currently is in their own learning. Having this information on hand makes it easy to help the student if they are struggling, plus it should remain updated for ease of use. Non-instructional records focuses on having the details of school life records maintained, especially with money. This deals more with permission slips, syllabus signatures, or school picture money. I can implement this component in the classroom by making sure I have a filing system for records and working to maintain them. The records are only as good as the effort one puts in to record in them.
