Description The SMART Notebook software is typically something paired with a SMART board in a classroom. It is basically like any editing or art program in the style it is set up with a blank slide at its centerpiece. There is a toolbar on top with a variety of things to insert or style on the slides. The software allows its user to create very interactive and engaging presentations that the students can take part in. It has the ability to make basic slides but also to insert different types of games through the lab button. These kind of activities can range from fill in the blank, flashcards, a game show, matching, quizzes, to responses, or ordering answers. There is a multitude of possibilities to make the classroom more exciting.
Danielson Tie-In SMART Notebook software fits in mostly in Domain 3. It essentially covers instruction due to how it is used in the classroom. SMART Notebook combines multiple techniques a teacher can use with students into one program, formalizing this into coherently instruction. For elements, I see it mostly in 3c and 3d. This is because the software engages students in learning with the interactive components, but it also pulls assessment into it. With the assessment tools in the software, it makes formative assessment easier for a teacher to watch for and see if the students are grasping the material.
Reflection SMART Notebook could be really great in the classroom due to all the different things one can create with it. The main use of it is to make presentations that can be used in tandem to the SMART board. I could see myself using this technology one in the classroom just because of its versatility. However, I definitely need more practice with the software because I struggled a lot with it. SMART Notebook has a really big learning curve, but after I get over it I think it could be extremely useful for both myself and my students in the classroom.
